Commercial, Industrial & Residential
Losing power will directly affect your building’s lighting and the ability of evacuees to safely exit. That’s why regular exit and emergency light testing and maintenance is absolutely crucial to the success of your fire plan. It won’t just protect your employees or clients; it could very well save lives.
At Betta Fire Protection, we’ve been protection people and property in Sydney for over 40 years, inspecting, testing, maintaining and replacing both exit lights and emergency lights. If exit and emergency light testing is a part of your fire plan, then you need to call Betta Fire Protection today on (02) 8669 9100. It’s peace of mind for you and compliance you can trust.
Exit lights operate in much the same way as an emergency light although most are lit all the time, not just in a power failure. Fire exit signs (also known as ‘emergency exit signs’, ‘green exit signs’ or ‘running man exit signs’) are installed above exits or where a change of direction in the path of travel is not clear. Betta Fire Protection installs exit lights to Australian Standard AS2293.1 and our exit light testing is in compliance with emergency lighting standard AS2293.2.
When house lights lose power, emergency lighting turns on using a battery backed-up power supply. Emergency lights are installed along the path of travel and provide minimal lighting, but enough to guide the occupant along the progress path to the exits. They can be standalone units or built into the house lights. Emergency lights are installed by Betta Fire Protection to Australian Standard AS2293.1. Our emergency light testing is in compliance with emergency lighting Australian Standard AS2293.2.
We provide regular exit and emergency light testing as part of our routine maintenance inspect & test packages. We ensure before the 90 minute battery test that:
- There has been uninterrupted power 24 hours prior.
- We clean the light and test/replace the globe where required.
- We then carry out the 90 minute power failure simulation test
- At the end of the test, we provide a report on the pass and fails
- We can also maintain E&E monitored systems and central battery systems.
All batteries are removed and disposed of safely in accordance with best practice environmental legislation, so you can rest assured that we are doing our bit for a cleaner, safer environment.
Our service technicians carry stock with them and can replace certain styles of light at the time of the test if approved, which will save you time and the cost of an electrician. We can also have our professional electricians carry out the repairs. Alternatively, clients are welcome to have their own electrician to carry out the repairs (ensuring their electrician will sign off on the fire safety measures to avoid re-inspection costs).
